At the corner of 48th and Chicago in South Minneapolis, Sovereign Grounds is a great coffeeshop that also is well known for a playroom, though I would describe this as “coffeeshop first, play place second”, the inverse of Rebe’s Play Café.

It has one larger room to play, with more Little Tykes-like structures, and seems to attract a slightly older crowd from maybe 2yo-7yo. The vibe here is that if adults want to get coffee and a treat, maybe read a book, meet a friend, do some work on the laptop, they can throw their kids in this room and be fairly hands off. So a little more zoo-like, which isn’t a discouragement but just changes the approach a bit for younger families.
The 48th and Chicago corner has lots of good places nearby, including a Turtle Bread on the opposite corner, Pizza Biga, Pumphouse Creamery (excellent ice cream), Hippo Pockets (former food truck for Hot Pockets-esque fair), and other bars, theaters, restaurants, etc.
